THE VILLAGE
The Montacute was derived from
Mons Acutus, the conical hill, now named St. Michael's Hill, above
the village.
The settlement at Montacute was known as Logworebeorh in the 7th
Century. It was named Montacute by the Normans.

The Old Vicarage opposite the
Church in 1999 and the same house in 1904 when it was occupied
by my Great Great Uncle Herbert Hann, who was the Manager of the
Ham Hill Stone Company who had a quarry on Ham Hill. The 1904
view must have been taken from the Church Tower
